All our professionals at Dunkling & Penney Dentistry maintain the highest level of accreditation and pursue ongoing education so we may offer our patients the most comprehensive treatments available. The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff.

Dr . Paul Dunkling DDS

Dr. Paul Dunkling received his DDS degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1982. Following dental school, he completed a one year General Practice Residency at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont. Post residency, Dr. Dunkling decided to stay in the area and opened offices in Burlington and Jericho, Vermont.

Dr Dunkling has had the privilege of studying under the guidance of internationally recognized educators and researchers in the field of dentistry. He is an alumnus of a number of post doctoral programs including the prestigious L.D. Pankey Institute for advanced dental studies and the LSU Cosmetic Dentistry Continuum in New Orleans, LA. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Vermont State Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Dunkling and his wife Kerry together have five children and two wonderful golden retrievers. They currently reside in Shelburne, Vermont.

Dr. Greg Penney DDS

Dr. Greg Penney was born and raised in Labrador City, Newfoundland, Canada. He received his DDS degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 2003.

After graduation, Dr. Penney became one of only a handful of people who "moved south" to Vermont and in 2004 completed a General Practice Residency with Fletcher Allen Health Care. Since then, Dr. Penney has continued his studies, training in postgraduate courses for dental implants, grafting, cosmetic dentistry (including Lumineers), and many other general dentistry procedures.

Dr. Penney is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Vermont Sate Dental Society (VSDS) and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) in which he is currently working towards obtaining an Associate Fellowship.

Outside of the office, Dr. Penney enjoys spending time with his lovely wife Dawn and their two precious girls Rebecca and Rowan. His hobbies include golf, football and yard work.

Business Manager

Pennie

Pennie has countless hours of post graduate continuing education in business management, sales and accounting. A retail business manager for 9 years, she left the field and focused her attention for 4 years in medical healthcare, assisting the elderly with insurance filing and policy explanation. This led her into dentistry, where she has been part of our dental family for the last 21 years. Her knowledge of insurance and policy breakdown is exceptional and is excellent at removing the confusion associated in dealing with most insurance companies. Pennie is a mother of two and a grandmother of three. She enjoys all outdoor activities but her passion lies on any tee box or finely manicured green.

Susanne

Susanne began her dental career with Dunkling & Penney Dentistry in April of 2000 as a Business Administrator, after moving back to Vermont from Big Sky Country - Bigfork, Montana, where her four sons currently reside. Her committment to quality customer service is evident as she greets each patient with a friendly smile and a willingness to accomodate their individual needs.
She recently became a brand new "Mia" as her only daughter gave birth to her first child, Dominic in 2009. When not spending every spare moment babysitting, Susanne enjoys hiking/camping, kayaking/canoeing, snowshoeing/snowmobiling and has a passion for interior design. Currently she lives in Underhill with her spouse Mark and their two dogs.

Jennifer

Jennifer joined our dental team in November 2009, bringing over 10 years of quality customer service experience. She is kind, caring, and professional, dedicated to our patients' satisfaction. Jen is a native Vermonter who graduated from the University of Vermont in 1996 with a Bachelors Degree in Art Education. She enjoys spending time creating art and experiencing all the wonders of nature our beautiful state has to offer with her family and friends. She loves long walks with her daughter Evette, and their two German Sheppards, Ilsa and Cash.

Dental Hygienists

Gail

Gail received her hygiene degree from the University of Vermont, and is an active member of both the American Dental Hygiene Association and the Vermont Dental Hygiene Association. Drawing on 30 years of clinical experience with 15 of those years in our office, she still enjoys helping her patients achieve optimal dental health.
Gail lives in Essex Junction with her husband Steve. They have three children and a yellow lab named Remi. Gail enjoys spending time with her family and outdoor activities at their camp in North Hero. She also volunteers her time with community service projects.

Dana

Dana graduated from the University of Vermont in 2003, as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Her fascination with dentistry began with an intriguing human biology lecture that linked oral conditions and systemic health. She saw an opportunity to share her knowledge and enthusiasm in the realm of total overall health beginning with proper oral health. Dana loves caring for teeth and cannot think of a better opportunity to focus on individualized preventive health education. In addition to evolving with dental discoveries she is thrilled to be the very proud mom of two great teens succeeding toward a healthy adulthood. To avoid the loneliness that she predicts will happen once the nest empties - she has developed a nice relationship with her Harley Davidson.

Lisa

Lisa graduated from the University of Vermont in 1986, as a Registered Dental Hygienist. She also carries active memberships with the American Dental Hygiene Association and the Vermont Dental Hygiene Association. Lisa has worked as a hygienist for the past 23 years, and has been with our practice for the last 21 years. She takes great pride in being part of the dental profession. She currently resides in Richmond and in her free time she enjoys working in her many flower gardens, taking summer walks and spending time with her husband Michael, and their two children.

Assistants

Jessica

Jessica received her Dental Assistant degree from the Center of Technology, Essex, Vermont. She has been dental assisting for the last 5 years and loves the profession. Jessica joined our practice in 2008 and brings an award winning smile and energetic personality to the practice. When away from the office she enjoys baking, spending time with her family and being outdoors.

Marie

Marie joined Dunkling and Penney Dentistry in 2008, bringing 13 years of dental assisting experince with her. She strives to provide excellent patient care with acompassionate and friendly approach. In her spare time she enjoys camping, shopping, vacations, and spending time with her husband and their two children Tyler and Hailey.

Dianne

Dianne's background originates in the arts. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art in 1985. She also has a history as a chef and Food Services Director for child nutrition programs for the State of Vermont. She has been active in the dental field for the past 10 years, with 5 of those years working along side Dr. Penney. She brings with her a compassionate chair side manner and her background in food service promotes her desire for meticulous infection control. Dianne has 4 grown children and one granddaughter. In her spare time she enjoys painting, printmaking, reading, and bluegrass music.
